Coaching - Small business owner
Trigger: A father who owned a small company transferred his interests in the business to his son. After taking control of the business, the son realized some of his father’s actions were tainting the workplace. My role: I assisted in the development and implementation of a transition plan, phasing out the physical presence of the father and ending the employment and stock ownership of the brother-in-law. I worked with the son as he assumed the full and legitimate responsibility for company management. Results: The workforce responded to new management with growing enthusiasm, responsibility, and accountability. The son feels appreciated for and comfortable in his leadership role. The business is showing signs of increasing prosperity. Family relationships between the son and father have been mended. Participants’ comments: “These shifts and changes, packed with emotion, were accomplished much more easily and effectively with Suzy’s guidance.” “She is a genius when it comes to people.” Conciliation - Father and Daughter
Trigger: A 29 year-old daughter believed her father had molested her repeatedly when she was a child. My role: I worked with the daughter to understand what she wanted which included being able to be present at family gatherings with her father. Results: Over a series of meetings - separately and together - father and daughter were able to come to a common understanding and be together in a family setting. In unsolicited comments they said: Participants’ comments: “I am grateful for your intelligent and sensitive feedback during the mediation with my Dad. Thank you for holding the space for the highest and most respectful dialogue to take place between us. I have moved through a tremendous block to owning my voice and my inner power so that I can actively use it in this world - with respect for my own human dignity and that of others.” “Thanks for helping us. |
