And, yes, that’s the way many of us are…comfortable with our surroundings…our place where we live…the roads we take to get to work, to school, to the stores, to our friends, to events. Only rarely do we venture out of our comfort zone…and only then most of us do this with a “plan”…a vacation plan…a business plan.
What if we just simply followed our curiosity…seemingly like a butterfly…flitting from one point of interest to another…so flitting from one project, one interest, one job, one activity…yes…even from one relationship…to another? The more time I have spent on this planet, the more willing I have been to “flit” and to honor the “flit” in others.! What if there is nothing wrong with “flitting?” What if that is just fun for us?
What is it that makes us judge each other for “flitting”…for changing our minds about what we like…what we wish to do…how we wish to express ourselves? What if we just lived 10 seconds at a time? Sure…we could choose to do something for 10 seconds and…if we liked it…continue to do it. But what if we could give ourselves permission to choose …every 10 seconds…keeping the threads between us and others loose enough to choose to move away when we feel like it? Don’t get me wrong…I’m not saying there is anything wrong with an intense relationship…only that we don’t agitate it…that we keep those threads…those tentacles…from gripping the other person…place…thing…activity…so hard that to leave it has to be cut.
What if we could like life 10 seconds at a time? Ah but don’t do that. It wouldn’t be any fun! (jesting…for those who don’t know me:)
They don’t call me the “South Beach Butterfly” for nothing!
